Get Pick Police working

Pick Police is a Mac menu bar app. It needs macOS 14 or later and a compatible webcam.

Get the official Mac version.

Check the purchase page for current Mac pricing and download availability. For Windows, you can register for one launch email on the homepage.

See current purchase and availability status.

Install the Mac app

  1. When downloads open, get Pick Police from the download link on the official website.
  2. Open the downloaded DMG and drag PickPolice.app to Applications.
  3. Open Pick Police from Applications. The icon appears in the menu bar; open it and choose Monitoring when you are ready.
  4. If macOS says it cannot verify the app, stop and contact support. Do not disable Gatekeeper or use an unverified mirror.

Camera permission or no camera

  1. Start monitoring and allow camera access when macOS asks.
  2. If permission was denied, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera, enable Pick Police, then quit and reopen the app.
  3. In Pick Police, open Settings → Detection and choose the built-in or external camera you want to use.
  4. Close other apps that may be holding the camera, then stop and restart monitoring.

The camera runs only while monitoring is on. Frame analysis happens on your Mac; frames are not uploaded or saved by default.

Calibrate the watch zone

  1. Sit where you normally use your Mac and start monitoring.
  2. Open Settings → Detection. Use the live preview and adjust the blue watch-zone box so it covers your face and the hair/beard area you want included.
  3. Adjust the grace period so ordinary brief touches do not trigger an alert too quickly.
  4. Test a few natural movements and adjust the zone or grace period if it feels too sensitive or misses your normal position.

Pick Police detects hand-to-face proximity. It does not know why your hand moved and is not a medical treatment or a guaranteed way to change a habit.

Alerts and updates

Use Settings → Alerts to choose sound, notification, and visual alert behavior. If notifications are silent, check macOS notification settings for Pick Police and check that a Focus mode is not suppressing them.

Use Settings → General → Check for Updates… to check manually. Automatic check and download options are also in General settings. Updates become available only after the release feed is published; these controls may not find an update while public releases are closed.

Contact support

Email [email protected]. Include your macOS version, Pick Police version/build (Settings → General), camera type, and the step where the problem occurs. Please do not email camera frames, screenshots containing private information, or habit history; support does not need them to start investigating.
